He Can READ!

Pictured to the right is a small child reading his own language from a phonics book. I had the opportunity while in Bamenda last week to visit a village where they are teaching children in their mother tongue (Kom) their first three years of primary school. It was so exciting to see students in their first year reading…something that many here have never seen happen before. Usually students are not reading until their fifth year or so. With the outstanding process the children are making, it is causing for some heads to turn in the ministry of education because these children have test scores (as the tests have been translated into Kom) that are three times that of their English taught counterparts…even on the English language test! I am praying to see if being part of this ministry is something God would have me do in the future.
